Common Act! to Salesforce Migration Problems

A connector can move records. It can't decide what's worth keeping.

Duplicates and duplicate rules

Duplicates and duplicate rules

Act! can store duplicate accounts and contacts, and Salesforce can have existing records too. Very often, standard or custom duplicate rules fire during migration, and sometimes important records are skipped during migration.

Owner reassignment/mapping is required

Owner reassignment/mapping is required

Act! users may not exist in Salesforce or have different usernames/emails. Reassigning data ownership to existing licensed Salesforce users requires a matching exercise.

Activity Party / participants

Activities don't map 1:1

Act! activities such as appointments, calls, meetings, and to-dos don't always have a direct Salesforce equivalent.

Act! history

Act! history

Act! stores completed activities differently from Salesforce. All the completed activities become the part of History object, and can be differentiated by history type.

Determining whether something should become a Salesforce Task, Note, or another activity record requires explicit mapping.

Contacts vs. Companies/Accounts

Contacts vs. Companies/Accounts

Many Act! customers don't use the Company object and instead store the company name as a text field on the Contact. In Salesforce, Contacts are typically associated with an Account, so this requires creating and matching Accounts based on company names, which can be inconsistent.
API limits & large volumes

Data volumes/API limits

Large-scale migrations can be affected by various Salesforce limitations, including API request and batch limits. As a result, a migration that performs successfully with 10,000 records may behave very differently when scaled to 2 million records, potentially requiring additional planning, optimization, and migration strategies to manage Salesforce limits effectively.
